No. 401 : Study of Hadith.
Study
of Hadith dealing with Dogma and Ibadat (religious observances). Preferences
will be made on the following topics:
Group-A
Kitab-Al-Iman:
Adetailed explanation of Iman provided in the traditions and its relation with
Islam and Ihsan.
Kitab-As-Salat:
Rules, Modalities, Appointed times, Taharat (Ritual Purity), Rectifying
disorder occuring in Salat etc.
Kitab-As-Sawm:
Its necessary rules and significance.
Kitab-As-Zakat:
It’s exact share or nisab and other rules of Zakat.
Kitab-Al-Hajj:
Its rules. Special prefecence will be given to Ihram, Wuquf, Sai, the limits of
Arafat, Tawaf al-Ziarah etc. Other rities of Pilgrims and its classification of
three categories- Ifrad, Qiran and Tamattu.
This
course focuses on the approaches to Ibadat in a systematic and wholistic manner
and it also exposes to the students how to live with Ibadat. This course
hilights the concept of Ibadat in Islam, Reason behind Ibadat, Psychological
and Sociological impacts of Ibadat on individuals as well as societies.

Study of Hadith dealing with Muamalat and
Jinayat
Muamalat: A Study of Hadith dealing with such matters as trade and commerce,
al-bai- contract of sale, court decision on proof provided by the Plaintiff and
requiring the defendant to give a solemn oath and the share assigned to in the
laws of inheritance.
Jinayat: The Philosophy of Islamic criminal law, its nature, scope and
objectives in accordance with the guidance of hadiths: Clasification of crimes
and their punishment such as Qatl, Zimas, Sadaqa and Drug etc. in Islam i.e.
Qisas; Hudud and Tazir. Scope of implementing Islamic criminal law, its
problems and prospects, codification and implementation of Islamic criminal law
in some Muslim countries.

No. 402: Principles of Economics and the Economy of Bangladesh
Group-A:
Principles of Economics.
Definition
and scope of economics, task and method of economics, basic concept of
economics, fundamental and quantitative relationships.
The
theory of utility and demand, indifference curve analysis as an improvement
over Marshallian analysis, consumer’s surplus, concept of demand and supply
measurement of elasticity.
Production,
factors of production, division of labour, lacalization of industries-
specialization with economics of scale, small and large scale production, iso
product curves and production function.
Theory
of value, supply and demand price, determination in a competitive market,
market structure and working of the price system, perfect and imperfect competition
pricing under monopoly, oligopoly, monopolistic, competition, price
discrimination and monopoly, elements of time in equilibrium analysis, short
run and long run equilibrium analysis, cost analysis and supply curve.
Pricing
of the factors of production, the theory of distribution, marginal productivity
theory, theory of wage, rent, interest and profit.
Theory
of income determination, macro-economic concepts; savings, investment,
employment and national income with reference to Keynesian economics.
measurements
of economic aggregates-index number. National income accounting, applicability
of economic theory in an under developed country like Bangladesh (reference to
and example from Bangladesh should be given).

Economy of Bangladesh.
Economic
resources: Natural resources-land and water resources including
marine resources- their features, Bangladesh as a developing country, obstacles
and predictions for economic development, the population problem and family
planning, land use and tenure, permanent settlement and the land reforms, land
labour ratio, different types of unemployment in agriculture. Agriculture self
sufficiency in food industry; large and small scale-role of government and semi
government organization in industrialisation, problem of development planning
and development plans in Bangladesh; Priorities and allocation—Infrastructure
development. Transport System: roads, railways, waterways and air transport.
Financing development: internal and external sources, role of foreign aid and
international co-operation. Fiscal policy: Regional development, natural
calamities and Measures to mitigate their impact.
